Your connection to K-State resources

K-State has an exciting opportunity for new students called the Guide to Personal Success (GPS) program. As a student in the GPS program you will benefit from having a personal guide to help you access information and resources when you need it.

College is an exciting new chapter in your life, but we also recognize the challenges that can come with your first year. K-State wants to make sure you have everything you need to help you successfully make the transition to K-State and make the most of your experience.

GPS Guides have extensive knowledge of university resources and will meet with you a few times during your first semester to assist in your transition to campus. Our Guides, in addition to wanting to help students, receive training on campus services and opportunities for students.

Utilizing your guide

Your GPS Guide will contact you to meet you and to become acquainted. Additionally, you will meet with your Guide approximately three times during the fall semester.

While your GPS Guide will reach out to you at numerous points throughout your first year, don’t hesitate to get in touch with your guide when he or she can be of assistance to you. All guides have extensive knowledge of K-State resources and will be able to help you during your first year at K-State.

You may be in situation where your transition has gone smoothly and don't feel like you need "help." If that is the case, discuss leadership opportunities, goals, and celebrate successes with your Guide. Guides may be able to recommend opportunities of which you are not aware.

Share your experiences as a first year student at K-State such as: residence hall life, Greek house/involvement, student organizations, career or major interests, academics, financial, making friends, and other personal or college-related issues.

Resources on campus

Numerous services and resources on campus can help you make your transition to K-State smoother. Check out K-State HD, A to Z student services, and the current students website to provide you with a list of services that are available.
