This is the year that I finished messing about with knee surgery. Just before Christmas, I had my right knee removed and replaced so that now I have a matched set and give the security guards at the airports more work. Just like last year, physical therapy gobbled up much of my time, but by next year I should be fully recovered. I've become more involved in historical geography and have been to Lincoln a couple of times this year working in the archives of the Nebraska Historical Society. The Center for Great Plains Studies there is publishing a paper that I began just before I had the left knee out last year. I hope all of you who remember my aversion to technology will be amused to learn that I have put all my undergraduate lectures on PowerPoint, most with maps and pictures from the National Geographic. Now that I can walk around fairly well again, I am going to Copenhagen (as well as the usual trip to England) this summer. Do email me or stop by the new house if you come to town.
