GTU/Geography Society NewsGTU/Geography Society members were busy during this last school year! Fall activities included the regional AAG conference in Provo, Utah and the fall picnic at Tuttle Creek. During the winter break, GTU, along with the Geography Department, moved into Seaton Hall. The Spring semester saw GTU/Geography Society members at the University Telefund, University Open House, national AAG meeting in New York, New York, and the Spring Banquet. Other activities included a diverse brown bag and lecture series, Adopt-A-Highway clean-ups, and St. George meetings. GTU welcomed the year’s initiates: Greg Vandeberg, Lisa Rieckart, Lisa Albright, Tony Davis, Andrew Elmore, Tracy Brown, Emily VanEman, Joe Collins, Charlene Rice, Johnny Coomansingh, and Jeff Boyles. Instead of selling concessions at the home football games, GTU/Geography Society launched some new fundraisers this year. Several members and their friends pitched in to clean up Bramlage Coliseum after three basketball games. After a generous donation of a small refrigerator, GTU started selling soft drinks. The drinks have been very popular and helped many members make it through the GTU meetings! Next year's officers were announced at the Spring Banquet. The board will consist of Ryan Caviglia as president, Tony Davis as vice president, Andrew Elmore as treasurer, and Levi Percy as secretary. Anyone interested in joining GTU or the Geography Society should contact the officers or Dr. Max Lu, the chapter's faculty advisor.
