Cheryl G. Strecker

General Counsel

Cheryl Strecker is General Counsel for Kansas State University, where she has worked as in-house counsel and litigation attorney since 1993. She earned her law degree from Cornell Law School in 1987, and worked for a private firm in Chicago and later as in-house counsel for the Illinois Department of Corrections before joining the legal team at K-State.

She earned her B.A. in Interdisciplinary Social Science at K-State in 1984, graduating with honors. She was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and spent a year in Germany on a study-abroad scholarship. Her connections with K-State also include growing up in Manhattan with a parent on the mathematics faculty.

Peter J. Paukstelis

Associate General Counsel

Pete Paukstelis joined K-State's legal staff in 2008. He was born and grew up in Manhattan, Kansas. Both of his parents were part of K-State's chemistry department, and his mother (Maria) continues to teach chemistry at K-State after more than forty years.

He attended the University of Kansas, where he was Phi Beta Kappa and received degrees in philosophy and biology. He then attended The University of Michigan Law School. He worked for large law firms in Kansas City and Los Angeles before returning to Manhattan to open his own solo law practice in 2002.

Pete was elected to the Manhattan-Ogden Board of Education twice, in 2005 and 2009. He served as Board President during the 2008-2009 school year.

Lindsay A. Chapman

Assistant General Counsel

Lindsay Chapman joined the Office of General Counsel in January 2010. She holds a bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management from K-State, with an emphasis in Labor Relations and a minor in French. Lindsay received her Juris Doctorate from Saint Louis University School of Law, where she served as editor of the school's Law Journal and studied at SLU's campus in Madrid, Spain. She also attended and received a Certificate in European Union Law Studies from the Universite Libre de Bruxelles in Brussels, Belgium

Prior to joining the Office of General Counsel, Lindsay worked for the firm of Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek, SC in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where her practice carried an emphasis in employment law, including litigation and client counseling. Lindsay also served as a clerk for Judge William H. Stiehl of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois. Lindsay is a frequent author and lecturer on labor and employment issues, and has worked as a valued community advocate and volunteer.

Maureen A. Redeker

Assistant General Counsel

Maureen Redeker became a member of the Office of General Counsel in 2013. At Maryville University of Saint Louis, she earned a B.A. in psychology, a B.S. in business administration, and was a four-year letter winner on the varsity women’s basketball team. She attended law school at Florida State University College of Law, where she participated in moot court and The Florida State Law Review. She also spent a semester studying international law in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

Maureen's experience includes working as an attorney both in government and private practice. She has worked for the U.S. Army at Fort Riley, a large international law firm in Kansas City, and as a judicial clerk to Judge John Lungstrum of the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas.
