Welcome To The Alaskan Ericoid Mycorrhizal Identification Guide

This key will ask you some simple morphological questions in order to help you compare your ericoid mycorrhizal  fungi to those we isolated during our study. It also provides some information on the various species involved in our Ericoid Mycorrhizal Project. These characterizations are based on our sampling from Toolik Lake LTER site, located on the north face of the Brooks Range in Alaska.

Since there are huge numbers of fungi, we are unable to provide a comprehensive key  to identification. The fungi listed on this page are merely those that we most commonly isolated and identified in our Alaskan ericoid mycorrhizal fungi project. All isolates used for this guide were grown on Potato-Dextrose Agar (PDA).
