Individuals for Freethought

General Meeting Minutes

4/26/00

1)      T-shirts

a)      They were supposed to be available at this meeting, but there has been a delay.  Hopefully, Paige will have them soon.

2)      Paul gave tips on how to handle soul solicitors.  Some tips included:

a)      Pretending to be Jesus/God incarnate

b)      Talking about sex

c)      Asking them to drink some sort of deadly-looking concoction (in actuality, it is harmless)

i)        When they refuse, refer them to Mark 16:17-18, which says that believers will be able to drink any deadly thing without harm.

d)      Asking them if they hate their family members and themselves

i)        If they say no, refer them to Luke 14:26 where Jesus says, “If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, and even his own life also, he cannot be my disciple."

e)      Telling them that God revealed to you that Christianity is false

f)        Quoting 1 Timothy 2:11-12 (if the soul solicitor is a woman) to see what her reaction is

i)        The verses read: “Let a woman learn in silence with all submission.  And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence.”

g)      Asking them if their son has ever rebelled

i)        If they answer yes, read them Deuteronomy 21:18-21, which says that rebellious and stubborn sons should be stoned to death.

h)      Citing the words of Christ in Luke 6:30 and asking for some money

i)        The verse reads: “Give to everyone who asks of you.  And from him who takes away your goods do not ask them back.”

ii)       This has worked for Paul in the past (he got $25).
