attempted to call various religious organizations about co-sponsorship for this
fall’s debate, but is not having much luck yet

to know how much money he can spend to get Barry W. Lynn to give a speech here in
spring 2001

to know which groups we would like as co-sponsors for RI and/or the debate.

that T-shirts ($15/each) will be available next Wednesday, 4/26/00

Is
looking into the situation (along with Jason) regarding allocated funds not
getting to UPC from last semester’s showing of “Inherit the Wind.”

attempting to organize various IF materials from the last two years (magazines,
letters, flyers, etc.)

spoken with the former treasurer (Josh) about the financial situation

Wants
to form a list of members to put in an Excel database (names and e-mail
addresses)

a story about how he made $25 from fundamentalists by citing Luke 6:30

a complaint from an individual on the listserv regarding the announcement of
having alcohol at the party, so we will no longer do that over the
Freethought-L listserv

We
will distribute T-shirts.

Paul
will give tips for what to do when fundamentalists preach to you.

Cookout

It
will be on May 6th.

We
discussed having the cookout at Tuttle Creek State Park or at Carnahan.

Matthews will look into the possibility of holding it at Carnahan.

Semester Ideas
a)
The
topic for the debate with Robert Price will be “Is the Bible infallible?”
b)
Having
speakers
i)
We
decided that we would like to have one big speech in the fall, and one in the
spring.
(1)
For
the spring, the idea was brought up that we could get Kenneth Miller to give a
speech for Darwin Day.
ii)
We
could use the CFA debate circuit to get speakers.
iii)
For
next school year, it was determined that we would like to have two or three
small speeches.
iv)
Possible
topic for a speech: morality in the absence of a deity.
