Business Meeting Minutes
December 12, 2002
1) Webmaster
a) This is someone that can keep the website up to date as needed and is good with dealing with html and stuff.
i) Our website hasn't been updated in a long time. This is a bad thing.
ii) Matt Peterworth expressed interest in taking over these duties.
iii) If anyone else is interested, let me know at nde5533@ksu.edu
2) Nick expresses a desire to have the Infidel Guy here for the 4-17-2002 meeting
a) He has contacted CFA with 2 emails, but hasn't heard back yet.
2) Tentative calendar for next semester.
a) 1-16: Physicist from KU to give presentation on modern cosmology.
i) This is as yet unconfirmed, but the speaker has expressed interest.
b) 1-24: @ 5pm: Ed Buckner to give presentation entitled, "Does it Make Sense to be an Atheist?" Confirmed!
i) Nick mentions that it's important to get as much publicity as possible for our first two meetings, especially for Ed Buckner. Put up a ton of flyers (the big ones like for the soul auction), get word to the newspapers, and maybe send a PR thing to the radio stations. Those of us that will be in town that Monday before school starts should plan on posting flyers then.
ii) His speech will be more geared to those of us not already in IF, so most of the people at the meeting should not be IF people.
iii) We need to get a big room.
c) 2-6: General Meeting - Topic Undecided
d) 2-12: Darwin Day: Science Education Standards in Kansas?
i) This is also unconfirmed, but the speaker has expressed interest.
e) 2-19: Religiously Incorrect
f) 3-6: A presentation on Cults in the USA
i) Speaker has agreed to do it, but date has not been finalized.
g) 4-3: Elections...
h) 5-1: General Meeting: Topic undecided
j) 5-9: End of Year Party
Ok, we talked about a few things tonight at the meeting.
Our website needs a webmaster. This is someone that can keep the website up to date as needed and is good with dealing with html and stuff. Our website hasn't been updated in a long time. May 9: End of Year Party
Well, I'm in good hopes about the semester. If the dates work out for our speakers, we will have some very good meetings I think.
Publicity: For our first two meetings, it's important to get as much publicity as possible. Especially for Ed Buckner. His speech will be more geared to those of us not already in IF, so most of the people at the meeting should not be IF people. This means we need to get a big room, put up a ton of flyers (the big ones like for the soul auction), get word to the newspapers, and maybe send a PR thing to the radio stations. We won't have much time to do it after school starts, so that's why it's important we work quickly. Those of us that will be in town that Monday before school starts should plan on posting flyers then.
