Audition FAQ
Undergraduate Applicants
If you are interested in majoring or minoring in music, and your primary instrument is flute, you must complete an audition. Your audition will also determine music scholarship eligibility (Audition by early March to be considered for scholarships). You can audition on our designated Music Award Days or privately by appointment.
Undergraduate flute applicants should prepare two contrasting pieces of music - one lyrical and one technical. There is not required repertoire - students should perform technical and lyrical pieces that highlight their strengths while demonstrating appropriate level for a graduating high school student.
Undergraduate decisions for acceptance and funding are usually made in late March.
Graduate Applicants
Graduate applicants interested in completing a MM degree in flute performance must complete a flute audition. Students interested in assistantships should apply by December 1 and audition by private appointment by February 1. Contact Dr. Large at kmlarge@ksu.edu for more information and to set up an audition.
Graduate flute applicants should prepare a program of music that is equivalent to a senior recital from which the audition will be sampled.
Graduate decisions for acceptance and funding are usually made in late February.
