Murder Mystery Dinner Theater

"Murder is My Middle Name" is a murder mystery dinner theater, which is a cross between Austin Powers and Get Smart.  Good family fun rated PG ! This event is sponsored by the K-State Student Union Program Council.  The dinner theater will be performed by WHODUNIT Capers

Roll on Over to the "J"

Start your Family Day at Jardine Apartments for a quick breakfast of cinnamon rolls, juice and coffee from the world famous Housing & Dining Services THE Bakery. Breakfast is served at the Frith Community Center, and K-State families have the first opportunity to tour the Tower Building.

Konza Prairie Self-Guided Hike

Konza Prairie Biological Station is a field research station owned by The Nature Conservancy and managed by Kansas State University's Division of Biology.  The public nature trail system consists of three loops; 3-miles, 5-miles, and 7-miles. For more information, click the link.

K-State Legacy Pinning Ceremony & Breakfast

Celebrate your family’s K-State tradition! The ceremony recognizes the commitment of K-Staters across generations and concludes with parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings and others pinning current K-State students as a symbol of shared loyalty to the purple and white. Family members who are not alumni are honored with K-Stater by Choice recognition. The cost of this event is $12 per student and $15 for family members. Come visit the College of Business Administration as they host a continental breakfast and social gathering for business students and their families. This is an invitation only event.

Members of the Chimes Junior Honorary will recognize the K-State Family of the Year with a special brunch event. This is an invitation only event.

K-State History Presentation

Here's a history lesson about K-State that will make you sit up and be proud!  Did you know the "snooze alarm" on your bedside clock was invented by a K-Stater?  Learn K-State traditions and history that will open your eyes and serve as the foundation for our campus.  Tim Lindemuth, K-Stater magazine editor, will guide you as we gather information from the past to help us better understand today's K-State. This event is free to all students and families.

Children's Carnival

K-State fraternities and sororities will host a children's carnival featuring a moon bounce, games, and candy sponsored by the Interfraternity & Panhellenic Councils.

Campus Tours

Enjoy a stroll through campus on a tour led by a current K-State student.  Learn interesting facts about K-State history, current campus events, and opportunities for students. This event is free to all students and families.

Volunteering - A Family Affair

Learn about how K-State promotes family volunteer activities on and off campus. Participate in an on-site service project promoting Family Volunteer Day this November. This project is sponsored by the K-State Volunteer Center of Manhattan and students from the Academic Mentoring Program.

K-State Insect Zoo

The K-State Insect Zoo will have additional displays and events for Family Day which will include cockroach races, beetle battles, and an insect cooking demonstration.  Reduced admission price of $1 per person and extended Saturday hours.

Enjoy free donuts and view Study Abroad projects created by
K-State students at this College of Architecture, Planning & Design sponsored event.

Learn about K-State's Johnson Cancer Center research and tour a laboratory.

Beach Museum of Art Open House

The Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art invites you and your family to join us for "Bugging Out in Manhattan!" There will be bug projects galore - and of course, we'll be serving gummy bugs! The open house will be in conjunction with the Robert Lang exhibition. The Student Friends of the Beach Museum of Art will be hosting the Open House with the help of the Entomology Club.

K-State Gardens

The K-State Gardens is a horticultural display garden that has been established as an educational resource and learning laboratory for K-State students and the visiting public.  Tours are free and self-guided.

Horticulture Club Mum Sale

The Horticulture Club will have its annual Mum Sale during Family Day.  Mums will be available for $10 a piece.

Family Time in Cat Town

Join K-State families for a barbeque before the K-State vs. Tennessee Tech football game.  Family Time in Cat Town is an opportunity for families to visit with K-State special guests and meet other K-State families. Those who attend can also purchase a chance to win the $2,000 tuition drawing. This event is sponsored by the K-State Parents and Family Association.  Fee:  $10 per person; Reservations requested:  online, by e-mail or call 785-532-7584. Online reservations are available now!

Enjoy the smooth and rhythmic sounds of a Latin Jazz Band in Bosco Student Plaza during the Family Day Lunch Special offered by K-State Student Union Catering Services.

Bring your younger family members to K-State Libraries' Story Station in the new Hale Library Commons. Kids 10 and under will enjoy books from our children's literature collection, a coloring project, and snacks.
