F.A.C.T.

Facilities Advisory and Communication Team

What is F.A.C.T.?

This employee group had its organizational meeting in August 1994. It's primary focus has been to promote participative management by involving employees in making decisions that effect their work. It also serves to enhance the lines of communication by getting employees and directors together once a month in an open forum style meeting. And we hope that through these combined efforts we strengthen the atmosphere of trust and mutual respect among all employees and the administration.

Who can be a member of F.A.C.T.?

Representatives are all volunteers and come from work areas that wish to participate. Representatives are asked to keep their work area up-to-date on issues being discussed and they are asked to present opinions that reflect their whole crew's interests.

What happens at a F.A.C.T. meeting?

Monthly agenda items are included in a meeting reminder distributed approximately one week before the meeting. This allows for input from co-workers before the discussion. Each meeting kicks off with comments or corrections to the last month's minutes and then we respond to any rumors floating around the department. Old business is completed and new business takes up the remainder of the time. When topics are too difficult to handle with such a large number or when they will require research and additional meetings, sub-committees are formed to meet at another time and reports are brought back to the group when ready.

What has F.A.C.T. accomplished?

Selection of new uniform shirts, modification to policies, suggestions for tunnel improvements, development of a customer feedback system, selection of new safety glass styles, and additions of vending machines in our new maintenance building have been some of the accomplishments of this group. Members have been instrumental in making these things happen.
