Shadow Day

Okay girls! This is your chance to see what a typical day at college is like for a female science, technology, engineering or mathematics student. You will go to class with your mentor, explore campus life have lunch and attend a workshop - "Choosing the Right College & Major for YOU".

This event is intended for girls currently in the ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth grades. Girls can come on their own, with a group of friends or as a class.

High School students will be divided into pairs and be mentored by female K-State students during their day. You will receive a list of majors available to shadow in your confirmation letter after you register for the event.

We will begin the day at 9am and end at 2:40pm.  All events will take place at the K-State campus in Manhattan.

EXCITE! Summer Workshop

The EXCITE! workshop is a four-day engineering, math, and science exploration event held on the Kansas State University campus in Manhattan, KS.  It will feature hands-on activities led by K-State faculty, as well as industry tours geared toward the eight tentative workshop tracks:

·         Aeronautics

·         Auto Design

·         Nano-Scale Polymers

·         Nano Sensors

·         Robotics

·         K Soaker

·         Designing Spaces

·         Web Page Design

The EXCITE! Summer Workshop is for girls who will complete  the 8th and 9th grades in May 2008. To participate in the aeronautics track, you must also be at least 14 years old at the time of the workshop.

The registration fee of $200 includes room and board, supplies, workshop materials, and a t-shirt. A limited number of financial need based scholarships will be available.
