Welcome To The Parent Section of the EXCITE!
Website!
What is EXCITE?
EXCITE! is designed to introduce young high
school women to science, technology,
engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields.
EXCITE! is a year round program that offers
girls in the 9th - 12th
grades opportunities on and off campus.
Girls entering 9th and 10th grades in the
fall have the chance to participate in a
five-day hands-on residential science and
engineering camp held on the K-State campus
in Manhattan, KS. The EXCITE! workshop
allows students to work closely with K-State
faculty and undergraduate students.
Participants also tour companies that employ
scientists and engineers and have the
opportunity to see a “typical” day on the
job.
During the school year girls are invited to
one day campus events. These events focus on
preparing for college as a STEM student and
are led by K-State students
What is an EXCITE! Event Like?
All EXCITE! events are
held on the main campus at Kansas State University in
Manhattan, KS. Our upper level undergrad students,
graduate level students, and professors help make
EXCITE! events informational and fun at the same time.
Your daughter will spend her time here at
K-State with trained Kansas State Student Mentors.
These Mentors will stay with your child and her group
throughout the entire event.
Our events during the
school year are typically held during the week and are
focused on preparing to come to college. Topics such as
Shadow Day, Show Me the Scholarships and Ace the
ACT...Slam the SAT are our most popular events. These
events usually start around 9 a.m. and lasting
until 2:00 p.m. Lunch is included.
Our
summer workshop is a 5 day camp where the girls stay in
a Kansas State Dormitory. All meals are provided.
