Meeting Minutes from Tuesday, September 27th, 2005
-Since camping last Saturday (September 24 th ) ended up not happening there will be a new campout on Saturday October 22 nd . The location has not been decided but emails are to come on details.
-SGA has decided to fund Kevin Danaher's visit. He will be here Thursday November 17 th from 7-9pm in Union Station. On Sunday they approved 2760 which includes:
500 for airfare
60 for lodging (he might be staying with a Manhattan resident instead)
2,000 for his Honorarium fee
60 for Union Station room (we will need to fund this part)
200 for promotion, four ads in the Collegian
SEA will also need to purchase and design a poster to help with advertisement; we also ask that you tell your professors to announce this in classes as the time comes nearer.
Before Kevin's speech we will be taking him out to eat at the Little Apple, and after we will be having a meet and greet party at Rylan's house, that everyone is invited to.
-On this note, Nick informed us that SGA only funds 5 events per semester, so we have two down : Kevin Danaher and Hoedown for the Heartland. There are other possibilities for funding including New Mexico trip, but this is up to what the majority would like to do. So start thinking on what you would like to do so we can begin to plan!
-On Thursday October 6 th , at 7pm in the Union there will be a Podcast (radio broadcast over iPods). This will help raise awareness for the environment to students. Rylan will be sending more information and details about this event.
-Some Current Events: Nick will be attending a meeting tonight about fundraising for SEA, this includes us as a group cleaning up after basketball games, graduation and speakers in Bramlage and get paid! Nick will inform us about this the next meeting.
-Jeff will be helping the Progressive Coalition with the radio show they are trying to form. He will be giving them information about what SEA is doing and current events on the environment to speak about.
-There could possibly be at fieldtrip to Jeffrey's Energy Center so we can tour the place. This would most likely take place on a Saturday.
-Rylan took several water samples throughout the canoe trip which people tested after the meeting for ammonia, nitrate, e-coli , phosphates and pH levels.
-There will be a craft party coming up at Adrienne's so look forward to it!
-T-shirts!
Please design your ideas and we as a group will decide on what we will make. The most popular theme seems to be the prairie. We are thinking about getting a bright colored shirt like neon green or lime green, so people on campus see our shirts. So bring these to the next meeting!
