The fiction, poetry and nonfiction prize winners for the Spring 2005 issue of Touchstone were selected from the works submitted for publication. The Spring 2005 issue features contest winners from two categories, undergraduates at Kansas State University, and graduates in creative writing programs nationwide. Winners are awarded a cash prize, publication, and two copies of the journal. Single copy price is $4. Submission Guidelines for 2006 Issue

GRADUATE STUDENTS (from any creative writing program in the United States, excluding KSU's English MA program):

Please submit up to five poems, two short stories, and two creative nonfiction essays.  Each fiction and nonfiction work should not exceed 12 pages. Five poems should not exceed 12 pages. A cover letter should accompany all submissions and contain the author's name, address, phone number, graduate institution/university, e-mail address, and the title or titles of the works submitted.


The first page of each submission should include the work's full title. Subsequent pages should include a header with the first word of the title, followed by page number. The author's name and personal information should not appear on the submission itself.


For e-mailed submissions, please include which genre you are submitting for in the subject line.  Please attach a file of the cover letter and submitted work(s) (.rtf or MS Word) or include the cover letter/work(s) within the e-mail.


With mailed submissions, submit copies only. Manuscripts will not be returned without an S.A.S.E. with proper postage.  Include a copy of the submission on 3 1/2" diskette or CD-R (.rtf or MS Word 2000 formats please).


An award winner will be selected and published per genre, awarded $50 and given two copies of the journal. All entries will be considered for publication.


Entries must be postmarked or e-mailed by November 18, 2005. Winners will be notified in early to mid-Spring.



UNDERGRADUATES (Kansas State University only):

Same guidelines apply as graduate writing categories. Undergraduate prize winners will be published, the writer awarded $50 and given two copies of the journal. All entries will be considered for publication.

Submission to Touchstone implies permission to publish.  Writers retain all later publication rights.

Touchstone accepts simultaneous submissions.
