Working with Elected or Appointed Officials

Sue Peterson, Assistant to the President for Governmental Relations, will share insights gained from working with legislators and appointed officials in a upcoming, informal session. This session is intended for both classified and unclassified members of the university community who may interact with elected representatives or other officials.

In the course of this session, Ms. Peterson will discuss:

  • The role of her office,
  • Appropriate procedures to follow if you are contacted by an elected or appointed official of a governing body,
  • Recommended steps to take if you are asked to represent the university before the legislature, and
  • Recommendations for building relationships and establishing credibility with elected officials.

A question-and-answer session will follow.
