Employee Assistance Program
What is EAP?
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides confidential
assistance to help K-State employees, like yourself, resolve problems
that affect job performance. Besides being confidential, the program
is voluntary - it is designed to allow you to seek help on your own.
At Kansas State University, the Employee Assistance Program
is an educational and referral service designed to help faculty and
staff members get in touch with personal problems and concerns affecting
job performance. EAP is available to help clarify issues and identify
professional resources that can help.
While it is recognized that your personal life is your
own, it is also recognized that numerous personal problems often result
in poor and unacceptable job performance. It is the desire of the university
to help.
Who can use the EAP?
All faculty and staff members, including local agency
employees, may use the Employee Assistance Program at K-State.
How can I access EAP?
You may contact your supervisor or call the EAP Coordinator
at 532-6818. You have the right to decide whether or not to follow EAP
recommendations.
What problems does EAP deal with?
The program helps with human problems - the kind that
affect your personal well-being and ability to perform on the job, such
as...
|
Relationship Difficulties; |
|
Financial Problems; |
|
Grief and Loss; |
|
|
Day-to-Day Stresses; |
|
Depression or Anxiety; |
|
Alcohol/Drug Abuse; |
|
Legal Issues; and |
|
Child and Elder Care. |
What about confidentiality?
EAP adheres to a professional code of ethics. The use
of EAP is entirely confidential. Nothing discussed will be divulged
to others without your written permission except when a person's life
may be in danger or the law requires disclosure.
What costs are involved?
The initial intake assessment is free to employees if
the centers designated by the university are used.
Most agencies or individuals to whom employees are referred
charge for their services, although those charges may be adjusted depending
on income or ability to pay. Employee health insurance programs may
provide payment or reimbursement for some of these services.
