Update on Hale Library and IT Services
With the closure of Hale Library this academic year, Library and IT staff have worked
throughout the summer relocating to alternate sites across campus to ensure continuity
of services for students and faculty. Services have been relocated across campus.
Additional information about library and IT services can be found here. Updated information can be found at k-state.edu/hale or by subscribing to the Hale Library blog.
Graduate Student Study Space in Eisenhower Hall
All graduate students are welcome to use the graduate student space on the third floor of Eisenhower Hall. Facilities staff are currently working to
complete painting and cleaning in some of the rooms as well as painting the hallways,
but the third floor is open, and many of the rooms are accessible for use.
In addition to the third floor space, room 121 in Eisenhower is one of several quiet study spaces available across campus. The room is open from 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday through Friday,
for students who need a place to sit and work between classes. The room will be booked
for meetings on occasion, and a note will be posted on the door to inform students
when the space is not available.
Questions about the third floor space and room 121 may be directed to Megan Miller
(mmmiller@ksu.edu, 532-6191)
Applications are now open for the Libraries Student Ambassadors program. Graduate and undergraduate students are welcome to apply. Ambassadors will gain valuable leadership experience by serving as both advisers to the Libraries
and representatives for the Libraries at recruitment, outreach, and fundraising activities.
With Hale Library’s closure for the 2018-2019 school year, the Ambassadors will be
particularly active helping fellow students learn about using Libraries’ services
and planning for the future of Hale Library. The expected time commitment is at least
four hours of service per month.
Information and application materials are available on the Libraries Student Ambassadors webpage. The application deadline is Thursday, August 30. Interviews will be scheduled with a select number of applicants and held on September 7, 2018.
Recipients of GSC travel awards for October are posted on the GSC travel awards website. September 1 is the deadline for graduate students to apply for GSC travel awards
to attend academic and professional events that begin anytime in November.
The annual Research and the State graduate student poster session will be held on
November 8, 2018 in the Engineering Complex atrium from 1:00 - 3:00pm, followed by
an awards ceremony. A call for abstracts will announced in the coming weeks, and the
abstract submission deadline will be in late September. Graduate students from all
disciplines are invited to participate.
