I come from a strong multi-cultural experience. Born in Canada, I grew up in Philadelphia and – before coming to Kansas in August 2011 – spent over thirty years in Rome, Italy. Consequently, we are bilingual (Italian and English) in my family, and have fun switching back and forth in mid-sentence. I have a CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from the University of Cambridge and I obtained my Masters in TESOL in 2009 from Touro College in New York. Most recently, before coming to KSU, I taught ESL at Touro College’s Rome campus and Composition at John Cabot University in Rome. I am also a translator. Both my personal life and my career have taught me about the joys and challenges of learning and living in a second language. I love teaching, and welcome the many new things that my students can explain to me. I try to write, mostly poetry, and find that life is worth living when I am surrounded by books, good people and a couple of cats.
