Jan Burke: Instructor
I was born and raised in the south of the South Island of New Zealand so I am used to living in a small city. I originally trained as a primary teacher but found my niche in ESL 18 years ago. As well as my native New Zealand, I have lived in England, Australia and Oman and traveled to about 65 countries.
I completed my Bachelors degree in English Literature in 1985 and my Masters in Applied Linguistics in 2000. I married my American husband three years ago and now enjoy living in the United States. Manhattan is a good place to live and I feel privileged to be working at K-State doing what I enjoy most – teaching ESL to International students.
In my free time I love to knit for my grandchildren.
