Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I sign-up and pay?

You can sign up in the ELP office in Fairchild 205.  You may pay by cash or check.

What happens if all the times are filled and I have a project due?

We will try to find someone available to help you.  However, the staff  may not be available at the time you need.  It is best to plan ahead.

What if I pay for an hour and it takes only 40 minutes to edit my paper?

We will keep records of the time you paid for and used.  You can then come in at a different time to use your remaining time.

If there are several of my friends that need the help with the same problem, can we come as a group?

We can try to arrange special tutoring for specific projects, needs, or groups depending on the number of people involved or the type of help needed.

What if my spouse, who is not a K-State student, needs help?

Depending on the type and amount of help needed, we will try to arrange help for non-students.

If I am enrolled in the ELP or in DAS 177, 178 or 179, do I need to pay for help from my teacher?

If you are in an ELP class or 177, 178 or 179, you do not need to pay for help related to your English classes. However, non-academic projects or large projects (i.e. these/dissertation/ journal article) would need to be scheduled in the HELP Center.

What if I need help with a project that is not listed as a service provided by the HELP Center?

Come and talk to the coordinator of the HELP Center.  If it is help with English or an academic project, we will most likely be able to help you.
