The English Language Program strongly recommends that students stay in a residence hall. They will find many opportunities there to practice speaking English, make friends and learn about American culture.

Approximately 3,800 students live in the 10 K-State residence halls, and Smurthwaite Leadership/Scholarship House. The residence hall contract includes a double room occupancy and three meals daily (except Sunday evenings). A 9- or 12- month continuous housing option is available in Moore Hall for students who need to stay on campus during scheduled university breaks. There are 526 one- and two-bedroom furnished and unfurnished apartments available for married couples, families, single graduate, upper-class undergraduate and nontraditional students. Early application is recommended since assignments are made on a first come first serve basis.

Apartments are available in Manhattan. Rental costs range from $300-$500 per month. Apartments are usually available, but can be harder to find at the beginning of the semester. Information on available apartments can be obtained from the classified section in the local newspaper (The Manhattan Mercury), the campus newspaper,(The Collegian), and from the listings in the Office of Student Activities and Services in the K-State Student Union. The Office of Student Activities and Services is located in the Union (ground floor). Pick up a copy of this publication before you start looking for an apartment.
