University Services

 

As a full-time student at Kansas State University , you have the right to use all the campus services and facilities. Here are some of them.

 

THE INTERNATIONAL STUDENT CENTER (#70 on KSU map) 532-6448

Hours:

Office ( Taiwan Wing) : Monday- Friday: 8:00am-12:00pm and 1:00pm-5:00pm
The Center: Monday-Thursday: 8:00am-10:00pm
Friday: 8:00am-12:00 midnight
Saturday: 2:30pm-12:00 midnight
Sunday: 2:30pm-10:00pm

Summer Hours: Monday through Friday - 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The staff (Donna Davis and Linda Bottom) can help you with any questions about immigration, visas, etc. They are your representatives on the campus.

LAFENE MEDICAL CENTER (#99 on KSU map) 532-6544

 

You can take your fee card to the Health Center and see a doctor for free. There will be a charge for laboratory work and medicine, but it will be cheaper here than off campus.

Spouse Health Care: By paying the SPOUSE HEALTH FEE, non-student spouses are eligible for care at Lafene Health Center . The fee is $84.91 per semester and may be paid at the Center during business hours. Appointments can be made during clinic hours: 8:30am-6:30pm Monday-Friday, 10:00am-2:00pm Saturday, closed Sundays and Holidays. You can schedule an appointment by calling (785) 532-6544. When services are not available at Lafene, you may contact the Emergency Room at Mercy Health Center , 1823 College Ave , Manhattan , 776-3322.

THE COUNSELING CENTER (located in English/Counseling Services (across from Hale Library) 532-6927

 

The Counseling Center has professional counselors who can help you work through any personal problems. We have strict confidentiality laws in this country, so anything you tell them will be kept secret between you and them.

 

STUDENT ACTIVITIES AND SERVICES (on the lower level of the Student Union) 532-6541

 

There are various services available here: insurance information, advice about landlord problems, and legal assistance. Call this number and ask for an appointment with the Student Attorney, if you have any legal questions.

 

HALE LIBRARY (#36 on KSU map) 532-6516

 

With your student ID, you can check out books and use all the other services of the library.

 

RECREATIONAL COMPLEX (#79 on KSU map) 532-6980

 

With your student ID, you can use the "Rec Complex," play tennis and handball, check out equipment, swim in the natatorium, and play on intramural teams. See the Rec Complex brochure to learn about all the activities offered. www.recservices.k-state.edu/

 

WILDCAT WALK ESCORT PROGRAM

 

For the safety of students walking alone at night, the Wildcat Walk escort program is available by calling 395-SAFE (395-7233). Manhattan is a relatively safe and quiet town, but it is always best to take precaution when alone on campus at late hours. SAFERIDE PROGRAM

 

This is another program designed for your safety. This free ride is available by calling (785)539-0480. A taxi cab will arrive at the location of your call within thirty minutes to give you a ride to your home.

Rules for Use

  • Only as many passengers allowed as there are seatbelts.
  • One person in party must show current K-State ID to receive a ride.
  • Cab will arrive at location of call within 30 minutes.
  • Rides will only be from location of call to home residence

 

LOCKERS

 

Some students have very heavy books to carry. Students can rent a locker in the Student Union. The Student Union Recreational Complex has the keys. Go to the Student Union Recreational Complex and ask for a locker rental which is located in the basement of the Student Union. The deposit is $10 per key. The rental fee is $7.75 per semester for the Fall and Spring semesters. The rental fee for the Summer semster is $4.75. When you return the key, you will get  your deposit of $10.00 back per key. Please ask the ELP office for help if you need it. The ELP office can check if there are any empty lockers BEFORE you go over to the Recreational Complex.

Example Cost of Locker rental for the Fall Semester:

Deposit:       $10 per key

Rental Fee:  $7.75

Tax:             $.57

TOTAL:      $18.32

  • Once you return the key you will get back your deposit.
