K-STATE ACCESS TECHNOLOGY SYSTEM

KATS is an interactive system that gives you access to your academic information and allows you to manage some of your university business. For example, you are able to enroll, change your schedule, update your address (permanent and local); and view your grades, semester schedule, holds, student account and other related information.

KATS is available through the Internet and by telephone. When using KATS you need to appropriately log-on and log-off of KATS as instructed. These procedures are necessary to secure the information being presented to you. When using a public computer and/or the kiosk with printing capabilities, the printed information will not contain identifiable information, i.e. your name or student ID number.

Frequently Asked Questions about KATS

ACCESS

Why is logging off important?
If you do not log off from KATS, you leave your personal information at risk for someone else to see. KATS cannot know when you walk away from a web browser so it will continue to assume the current user is you. Another reason for logging off is so that the maximum number of users could be using the system at any one time. A "LOG OFF" button is available on every screen for your convenience. ALWAYS LOG OFF.

What does PIN mean?
Personal Identification Number. To maintain the security of your student data, you should not share your PIN with anyone.

How do I change my PIN?
A "Change PIN" application is available from the KATS Main Menu (web only).

How often should I change my PIN?
Change your PIN whenever you feel another individual may know your PIN. There is not a mandatory change PIN schedule.

What will my first PIN be?
The first time you access KATS, your PIN will be the four digit number equal to the digits that make up the month and day of your birth. For example, if you were born on July 20 th , your PIN would be 0720

What is my ID number:
Your ID number is your student number. It will be the nine-digit number on your student ID under your name.
