Lance Bachmeier

Research areas: Macroeconomics and econometrics.

Bachmeier teaches a core econometrics course for the PhD program and field courses in time series econometrics and macroeconometrics. He has published in journals including The Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, Macroeconomic Dynamics, Economic Inquiry, and Economics Letters. He is an associate editor of Energy Economics and co-editor of ERN Global Commodity Issues.

William Blankenau

Research areas: Macroeconomics and public economics.

Blankenau has taught a core macroeconomics course for the PhD program and a field course in economic growth. Much of his research investigates the macroeconomic consequences of eduction policy. His work has appeared in journals such as Review of Economic Dynamics, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, Economic Theory, Journal of Development Economics, Macroeconomic Dynamics, and American Economic Review Papers and Proceedings. He is an associate editor of Economics Bulletin.

Hugh Cassidy

Research areas: Labor economics.

Cassidy's research has examined the impact of job characteristics on promotion receipt, the relationships between hierarchical level and labor market outcomes, the role of promotions as signals of worker ability, and promotions in an environment of multiple worker abilities. Recent papers include "Skills, Tasks, and Occupational Choice", "The Signaling Role of Promotions: New Evidence from European Firms", "The Occupational Attainment of Natives and Immigrants: A Cross-Cohort Analysis", "Task Variation Within Occupations", and "Promotions, Piece Rates, and Occupational Skill Requirements".

Steve Cassou

Bergtold is associate professor of agricultural economics. His research interests include model specification and discrete choice modeling. He is currently examining land-use and land cover change issues related to bioenergy and agricultural expansion in Latin America. His publications have appeared in journals such as American Journal of Agricultural Economics, Energy Economics, Journal of Choice Modeling, and Journal of Applied Statistics.

Tian Xia

Xia is associate professor of agricultural economics. His research interests include industrial organization in food and agricultural industries, applied econometrics, and international trade and policy. His current research focuses on industrial organization issues such as contracts and vertical coordination, product differentiation, market structure, and competition in food and agricultural industries. His publications have appeared in journals such as Review of Industrial Organization and American Journal of Agricultural Economics.
