The application process is the same for the M.A. program and the Ph.D. program. The application can be completed online or by mail. The relevant links are provided to the left.
To complete your application, you will need to send official academic transcripts, three letters of recommendation and a statement of objectives. U.S. citizens and permanent residents must include a cashier's check for the application fee of $40. Others must provide a cashier's check for $55. It is also possible to pay this fee with a credit card when you are filling out the application online. While not required, the basic Graduate Record Examination is very helpful in evaluating an application and submission of this exam's results is strongly encouraged.
Applicants whose primary language is not English must submit a TOEFL report. The TOEFL is offered throughout the world by the Educational Testing Service, Princeton, New Jersey 08540, USA. Those who have received a degree in the last two years from a United States college or university are not required to submit a TOEFL score but must take an English proficiency test upon arrival at Kansas State.
Applicants who are neither U.S. citizens nor permanent residents must submit a completed copy of the Affidavit of Financial Support. While we can review files before receiving this document, official acceptance from the Graduate School will require its completion. For students who receive funding from the department, the amount that must be verified will be reduced but the form must still be completed.
These materials should be sent directly to the department. The address is provided to the left.
Many of our graduate students receive financial assistance through teaching assistantships and fellowships that are awarded on a competitive basis. Graduate assistantships typically provide income as well as full or partial tuition fee waivers. Applying for financial support is easy; just ask for it in your statement of objectives.
