Blankenau is an
Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies. He received a B.S. degree in economics
and finance from the University of Nebraska, an M.A. degree in economics
from Colorado State University, and a Ph.D. in economics from the
University of Iowa. He taught at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater
prior to his appointment at KSU. Blankenau also spent two years as a Peace
Corps volunteer in Belize.
Blankenau's research interests include macroeconomics and open economy macroeconomics. His recent work investigates causes of wage inequality, the consequences of education subsidies, the growth and welfare implications of tax policies, and business cycles in small open economies. His work has appeared in
Review of Economic Dynamics, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, Macroeconomic Dynamics and Journal of Development Economics.
