Requesting Letters of Accommodations

Follow these instructions to ensure timely accommodations:

  1. Request letters of accommodations by contacting the DSS office. Students will meet with a staff member to discuss accommodations for the semester. It is best to request letters during the first two weeks of class.
  2. Letters will be emailed to students after one week.
  3. Accommodations are provided only after students provide instructors with the letter of accommodations. It is the student's responsibility to deliver letters to instructors and discuss specific accommodations with them. DSS recommends that students either make an appointment or meet with instructors during regularly scheduled office hours.
  4. Students should follow up with instructors, note-takers, or testing arrangements as appropriate. DSS arranges for accommodations; however, it is the student's responsibility to advocate and discuss individual needs with instructors.
