Exams are administered in a variety of formats for students enrolled through DCE, and the format of the exam should be considered when requesting test taking accommodations. Students should consult the Course Packet or ask the instructor to determine exam type.
Students enrolled in courses offered through DCE are responsible for finding an appropriate proctor, whether local or distant. The Proctor Agreement form can be found in the Course Packet, which is available to the student on K-State Online following enrollment.
The Division of Continuing Education Facilitation Center coordinates the distribution of paper exams and will communicate directly with the proctor. The Facilitation Center is copied on all accommodation letters. If a proctor is necessary, a copy of the accommodation letter will be mailed, along with the exam, to the proctor, as verification of approved accommodations.
Local students who choose to have their tests proctored in the DSS Testing Center should bring the Proctor Agreement form to DSS.
The Facilitation Center also provides proctoring (test taking) services for local students. They are located in College Court Building 131 (on Anderson Avenue, across from Nichols Hall). The Facilitation Center is open from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and can be reached at 785-532-5686. Students must schedule an appointment for the test and should inform Facilitation Center staff of approved academic accommodations at that time.
If an instructor gives timed exams online, and a student typically receives extended time on exams, the instructor will need to grant an "exception." This means that the instructor will modify the rules for the exam and will assign the student a number of extra minutes according to the accommodation letter. If a student misses an exam or experiences technical difficulties, he or she should contact the instructor immediately.
The Academic Assistance Center’s Testing Programs and Services provides proctoring services to K-State and non-K-State students. Examinees must possess valid government identification and complete and submit the proctor request form at least two weeks in advance of the desired test date. The form can be found at: http://www.k-state.edu/aac/testing/documents/RequestForExamProctor1.pdf. Students enrolled in K-State courses must complete the DCE Proctor Agreement form found at http://www.dce.ksu.edu/students/services/docs/proctor.pdf or in their course packet.
