Upon request, DSS writes Accommodation Letters for students to provide to their instructors. These letters explain that the student has a documented disability and state what academic accommodations are appropriate for the student. Accommodation Letters will be written after the student's documentation is approved and the student has filled out the Request for Accommodation Letters form.
Typically, local students request and pick up accommodation letters at the DSS office and hand-deliver those letters to their instructors. However, with instructors and students at a distance, this practice becomes impossible.
Therefore, DSS will email accommodation letters for both local and distant students directly to the instructor. Letters will be typed on K-State letterhead and will be attached to the email. Both the student and the DCE Facilitation Center will be copied. It is the student's responsibility to contact the instructor to make arrangements for accommodations.
