Overview

The Transaction Hub will provide real time data integration between disparate systems with reusable adapters and interfaces. This will avoid the need for implementing multiple interfaces with the same data, reduce the need for batch data feeds as well as provide a primary location to collect and maintain interfaces.

A Proof of Concept (POC) was used in the vendor selection process. It allowed each selected vendor to demonstrate the desired functionality using minimum information such as a single data entity being passed from one system to another. The POC scenarios focused on the Student, Financial, Human Resource and Authentication systems. Following the POCs, webMethods was selected as the transaction hub vendor and the purchase of their product was completed on 12.23.2003.

We are currently working on establishing the technical infrastructure and core competencies required to put the webMethods product into production. We have established adapters and interfaces for the Oracle Financials Cash Management process to acquire bank statement data from local agency banks. An interim solution will be provided to save the controllers office many hours of keypunch and data validation while we work through the transaction hub phase I project. Another component of the current phase of this project is to establish the policies and procedures necessary to manage this product over time.

Other interfaces will be scheduled and prioritized for inclusion in later phases of the project. We anticipate that the hub will also measurably reduce the complexity of our system-to-system interfacing, and systems maintenance costs.

Questions about the Transaction Hub project may be directed to the DIA Project Manager.
