Strengths of KSU that will help achieve the Vision and Strategy

The following strengths that will help us achieve our vision and
strategy were identified as during our discussion at the August 2005 Retreat:
Faculty
- We have very good faculty with national and international strengths.
- High quality of faculty.
- High performing faculty.
- Outstanding faculty add value i.e. Architecture.
- Can attract good faculty.
- People esprit d'corp in departments.
- Commitment of people. Can-do attitude makes things happen.
- Faculty are student-centered.
- Good teaching emphasis; senior faculty teaching basic courses.
- Small class size taught by professors.
Students
- Work ethic of the students.
- Our students are a tremendous asset and strength and faculty that are willing to foster their strengths.
- Industry comments on good quality of students.
- Liberal admissions policy allows us to make a difference in the student lives of a broader group of students.
- Out-of-state tuition.
- Our programs are affordable and despite low pay and limited resources, faculty and administrators work hard to improve the institution.
Administration
- Decentralized decision-making.
- Leadership willing to find creative was to increase faculty salaries.
- Targeted enhancement for faculty promotion increases.
- The Targeted Excellence Program.
Atmosphere
- A very informed and friendly atmosphere with faculty and administration and students with minimal barriers.
- KSU does a great job of maintaining a "university climate", not just on institution that chases money.
- Campus communication strong.
- Barrier-free interactions across college, departments, and disciplines.
- Commitment of our people and solving problems together.
- Willingness to discuss collaborative ventures between faculty.
- Write more inter-disciplinary grants; establish more inter-disciplinary activities in general.
- Disciplinary diversity in programming.

Commitment to diversity
- We have a very diverse campus in our strengths, but need to improve the collaboration of those strengths.
- International diversity of faculty and GTA's.
Infrastructure
- We are one of the most wired and wireless Universities.
- Good technical support quickly able to respond.
