KSU Foundation
Stewardship

Expressing Kansas State University's appreciation to donors who establish endowed and other major gifts is the role of the Stewardship Department at the KSU Foundation. By communicating to donors through various stewardship reports, donor recognition and other activities, the Foundation seeks to build confidence and continued support from K-State's alumni and friends.

Scholarship and Endowment Acknowledgment

During the fall semester each year, donors and other contacts of scholarship funds receive the names of those students who have received the scholarship awards from their fund. This report includes the student's name, hometown, class year, major, college and amount received for the fall semester. Thank you letters from the students are also included when available. This report is also issued in the spring.

For those donors who have established endowed scholarship funds, a financial statement providing a summary of the fund's activity is also mailed in the spring. This report includes current market value of the fund and the activity during the previous year.

In addition to reports on scholarship funds, donors who established any type of endowed fund at the KSU Foundation receive a financial statement similar to the one described above.

Endowed Fund Recognition

A very special program initiated at the KSU Foundation is the Heartland Profile that honors donors who create endowed funds. This profile is a biographical brochure highlighting a donor's life and accomplishments. The Heartland Profiles are presented each year to the student recipients of the endowed scholarship.

For endowments that are for the benefit of K-State faculty or other K-State programs, a Heartland Profile is presented each year to the appropriate faculty member, department head or campus administrator.

Copies of the Heartland Profiles are also made available to each donor for them to share with friends or family members.

Major Donor Stewardship

In order to maintain continuous contact with donors, greeting cards are mailed to all major donors with a lifetime giving total of $100,000. The greeting cards include birthday and wedding anniversary, if appropriate. A holiday greeting card is sent to donors with lifetime gifts of at least $10,000 and Presidents Club members.
