KSU Captures Conference Gold Mark Smelser reeled in the hardware as he swept the road race and criterium events this weekend at the NCCCC Championships hosted by KSU. With the wins Smelser captured the conference Omnium title and will defend his National Championship at Nationals in May. The Men's B time trial of Chad Clark, Tanner Marshall, Jeramie Abel, and Alex Betzen also brought home the gold on Saturday while the men's A team of Smelser, Gerald Hart, Brad Sullivan, and Rich Shurtz placed 2nd in thier event a just seconds behind the winning team from the University of Minnesota. Marshall also got a bronze medal in the men's B criterium as did the women's time trial team of Lisa Gerber and Claire Armstrong. Wildcats Battle Elements In Lincoln Mother Nature made her presence known this weekend in the final regular season road racing event in Lincoln, Nebraska. The University of Nebraska Cycling Team hosted the conference in the Lincoln Plating sponsored events this past weekend. Conference teams battled the elements in Saturday's road race which featured an 11 mile loop around Branched Oak Lake in ferocious 30 mph winds which were reported to be gusting as high as 50 mph at times. [more] KSU Set To Host Conference Races Kansas State University Cycling is proud to host the 2007 NCCC Conference Races April 28th through the 29th. The weekend long event will begin Saturday, April 28th with a road race in Olsburg, KS. Upon conclusion of that event, a team time trial competion will begin East of Manhattan on Highway 18 (Zeandale Rd.) [more] Four to travel to Minnesota Races The Wildcats will be sending four members of it's team to Minnesota for the second of three regular season conference race events for the 2007 road racing season. The races will begin Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with a road race and team time trial in Cannon Falls hosted by Caleton, St. Olaf, Winona State and University of Minnesota. The weekend will conclude with a 9:00 a.m. criterium on Sunday morning in Minnetonka sponsored by the University of Minnesota. Results will be posted as they become available. Smelser Helps Pedal KSU To Third In Opener The 2007 NCCCC collegiate road racing season got underway at the conference opener hosted by Kansas University this past weekend. With winds gusting to over 30 mph, defending criterium National Champion Mark Smelser took the men's A division with teammate Brad Sullivan coming in at 8th combining for 115 points. [more] |
