TEST
REVIEW
SUGGESTED PROCEDURES:
-
MAKE
A LIST OF THE MAJOR TOPICS in the course. Scan assignment sheets,
lecture notes, outlines of outside readings, and quiz papers so
you are sure that the list is complete.
-
For
each of these topics, WRITE A SUMMARY OR OUTLINE of related material
with particular emphasis on relationships among them.
-
GO
OVER THESE MATERIALS SYSTEMATICALLY, applying your time on the subject
most in need of work.
-
MAKE
OUT A SET OF PROBABLE QUESTIONS to review all of the material covered.
Keep in mind what you know about your professor’s interests
and points of importance.
-
AVOID
LAST MINUTE DISCUSSIONS - they tend to increase your anxiety! Many
students face every exam with such an emotional reaction that they
then find it impossible to demonstrate their knowledge.
-
AVOID POST-EXAM DISCUSSIONS DURING EXAM WEEK - since you won’t
know the results, these discussions tend to increase anxiety or
give students a feeling of failure to take with him/her to the next
exam.
-
GET
ADEQUATE REST - it is impossible to think clearly after an all night
session of cramming and many students who try cramming find themselves
unable to recall information which they thought they had mastered.
-
RELAXATION,
A LITTLE FUN, AND EARLY TO BED IS THE BEST PROGRAM FOR THE EVENING
BEFORE AN EXAM.
