Getting Started

Welcome to Kansas State University Counseling Services!

We offer an initial consultation session that is free of charge to all currently enrolled K-State students. Click here for more information about what to expect when you come to Counseling Services.

We see students with a wide range of problems from stress, homesickness, career decision-making and relationship problems, to more serious concerns such as eating disorders, trauma, or depression and anxiety disorders. We have found that most students can be helped in 1-8 sessions. When students’ needs are beyond the scope of our services, we will help with referral options.
To be seen at Counseling Services, we ask students to provide us with some information to make our meeting with you more efficient. There are two ways to complete our forms:

  • COME TO OUR OFFICE:
You can drop by the office (232 English/Counseling Services Building) to provide some basic information (it usually takes 20 minutes or less). Once you have completed the paperwork, our receptionist will then schedule you for a consultation session. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 am - 5 pm. when school is in session.
  • ONLINE:
If you wish to complete the paperwork online, please call our receptionist during business hours (Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.; 785-532-6927). You will be sent an email with a link to a secure website. You will need your Wildcat ID number to sign-in and complete the paperwork. After submitting the forms, please call our receptionist and schedule a consultation session.
  • EMERGENCIES: If you are experiencing an emergency, come directly to Counseling Services at 232 English/Counseling Services Building between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, or phone our office during business hours at 785-532-6927 and speak directly with a counselor. If you are in an immediate emergency and Counseling Services is closed, you should go to the local emergency room. In Manhattan, Mercy Hospital is located at 1823 College Ave.
