About the photographer...Fred Newton

Fred B. Newton

Dr. Fred Newton, who served as the Director of Counseling Services from 1980-2010 and as a faculty member in the College of Education,  retired from Kansas State University in 2012. During his tenure as Director, he developed several innovative programs for students, served as a mentor for young professionals, nurtured the development of the Danskin Center for Biofeedback & Performance Enhancement, worked extensively at assessing student outcomes in counseling, and published in multiple peer publications.

Outside of the office, Fred pursued his second love--photography. Over the years, the Counseling Services staff has had the pleasure of viewing his vast collection of photos. Many of these photos were taken in and around the Manhattan area, with others being taken on Fred's jaunts around the country and the world.

In honor of Dr. Newton's dedicated service and retirement, Counseling Services unveiled the Fred B. Newton Art Gallery on April 27, 2012.  The photos in the banners on the Counseling Services' website can be seen in the Gallery located on the second floor of the English/Counseling Services Building.

Please stop by and visit the Gallery.  See a sample of the photos below.
