The long-term goal of CORES, a Collaborative for Outreach, Recruitment, and Engagement
in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) is to increase enrollment and degree completion
in STEM disciplines at Kansas State University by women, first generation college students, and groups historically
underrepresented in these disciplines. |
The objectives of this program are to:
|
 |
Enhance connections among existing K-State programs having similar goals and identify gaps and common
areas of their services in support of increasing participation in STEM for groups currently underrepresented (including women); |
 |
Maximize access to and encourage sharing of resources, including assessment instruments, among K-State programs to
strengthen these programs and enhance their capacity; |
 |
Create a web portal that provides easy links to all K-16 STEM and minority-serving outreach
and engagement programs at K-State; |
 |
Create a database that tracks student participants in all partner programs to facilitate recruitment of these
students into other K-State programs, monitor their continued involvement with K-State, and provide
easy access to data for K-State researchers to use in future grant proposals, analyses, and publications; |
 |
Pilot test a format for conducting outreach in Kansas community colleges that serve ethnically diverse
or rural populations; |
 |
Enhance K-State's reputation as a national leader in the area of human resource development in STEM. |
