  • Web Site Design Committee: April 6, 2000 Minutes

Members Present: Gary Rabold, Bert Biles, George Brandsberg, John Johnson, Neil Erdwien, Janelle Esau, Bill Richter.

The main focus of the meeting was to choose a final design for presentation to the faculty at the VPAST Lecture next Wednesday, April 12, 3:30 to 5:00 p. m. in room 207 of the K-State Student Union.

Two drafts were presented. They differ only in the design at the top of the page:

    1. Draft3a -- a larger PowerCat and script "K-State" at the top
    2. Draft3b -- a slightly modified official K-State logo at the top
Although no strong opinions were voiced, the first design was favored. It was noted that we would need permission from University Publications to use the modified official logo.

Some discussion was held regarding the links. First, will international and multicultural resources be adequately found by links on popups, primarily in the audience-based pages?

Second, will people be able to find the various directories? The current home page has links to the people search and the colleges and department list. These are the top two most-used links from the home page, and people will now have to activate the "directories" popup and then click on the desired directory.

For both of these questions, the resolution was to leave the page unchanged for now.

The presentation for the April 12th meeting was previewed. It was agreed that the presentation needs to explain the shift in the menu structure away from the organization chart to the audience-based and subject-based menus.
