  • Web Site Design Committee: March 15 and March 29, 2000 Minutes

    MARCH 15TH MEETING
Members Present: Gary Rabold, Donald Crawford, George Brendsberg, Gail Simmonds, Derek Lustig, Pat Bosco, Victoria L’Ecuyer, Jonas Heinrich, Thomas Gould, John Johnson, Neil Erdwien, Janelle Esau, Bill Richter, and John Murray.

    MARCH 29TH MEETING
Members Present: Neil Erdwien, Janelle Esau, John Johnson, Victoria L’Ecuyer, John Murray, Don Crawford, Roger HcHaney, Pat Bosco, Melinda Sinn, and Bill Richter.

Both meetings were devoted to reviewing examples of redesigned webpages. The proposed drafts for discussion are:

    1. Draft2a -- modification of Draft1
    2. Draft2b -- removal of topic links on the images
    3. Draft2c -- "egg" image
    4. Draft2d -- simple, box format
    5. Draft2e -- horizontal line format
    6. Draft2f -- circle format As a result of ongoing discussions, we narrowed the range of possibilities concerning items to include on the opening page. The items were grouped into three categories--Topics, Audiences, and Auxiliary Links: Examples of several pages were viewed and discussed. There was some support for the egg page (a clean page with a central dramatic photograph, that changes, arranged in an oval pattern with links around the oval picture). All agreed that the page should be bright and colorful--lots of purple. There should be an "open" feel to the page (lots of white space and fluid design/flow). In addition, there was some discussion about the importance of K-STATE and Kansas State University (using the letterhead/logo) along with the Wildcat logo.

It was agreed that we would review some additional formats on THURSDAY, APRIL 6TH (10:00 a.m. in Dole Hall, Conference Room)--in preparation for the public showing at the scheduled meeting on WEDNESDAY, APRIL 12TH, 3:00 P.M. IN THE UNION, BIG 12 ROOM.
