    In attendance: J Corkill, L.Davis, R.Gould, A. Murray (FSCOT), T Schellhardt

    Faculty Senate Resolution
Faculty Senate passed the following resolution on Feb 12, 2002. "Be it resolved that Faculty Senate and its Leadership Council are committed to the goal of website access to KSU information by persons with disabilities. We resolve to support progress in each of our units toward attaining this important goal".

Update on Undue Burden Request and State Extension
Janelle pointed out that since the other Regents institutions were not requesting an extension, K-State would not pursue the undue Burden Request.

    Web Developer Survey
It was agreed that Rebecca would develop a survey using questions generated during the meeting. All committee members would review the survey. The survey will be distributed electronically with a cover letter to come from the web site accessibility committee members. The goal is to distribute the survey on March 1 using the A&K list.

    Additional items
Larry Davis shared information from the University of Wisconsin web site on accessibility http://www.doit.wisc.edu/accessibility/

Janelle discussed the design aspect of the K-State home page. Dynamic html and Flash are the only web technologies that cannot be made fully accessible.

Tom discussed IRMC and the support of web site accessibility. According to IRMC, university wide resources need to be provided when necessary. Rebecca commented that there is a "significant other" of a new faculty in history who is seeking employment. This person has expertise in making web pages accessible. Tom commented that this issue spans numerous units including Disabled Student Services, Dual Career, ITAC, and III. Rebecca will discuss this Dr.Unger.

The committee addressed a spring semester action plan that might include a daylong workshop where a web designer could discuss their home pages with Janelle, Susan Bale and/or others.

    Action items:
    • Janelle will write a letter for InfoTech Tuesday on the status of web site accessibility.
    • Rebecca will initiate the survey.
    • All committee members will critique the survey and provide recommendations for improvement.
    • Rebecca will ask Dr.Wallentine if web site accessibility is taught in CIS.
    • All committee members will come with suggestions for the action plan.
