CNS Network Toolkit Beta Available

The new Toolkit is kinda, a little bit, sorta available,

The beta test software is only available by FTP to the CNS Unix system, in the directory

   /usr/local/lic/network_toolkit/tk1620b2
This is a really rough version. The complete installation process has been tried on only one computer, and proper operation of the installed tools hasn't been verified -- but the installation process didn't abort. In other words, there will be problems.

I can recommend trying this version only if you are comfortable with the havok it might bring to an existing installation. This is certainly not ready for end users.

Known/suspected problems

I'm making this rough version available because this upgrade is late already, and that is making some folks are very anxious to see it. Because it will now install rather than generate syntax errors, this is the earliest I could possibly distribute a test version.

I intended to replace this beta test frequently, daily at first, until problems get resolved.

Feedback on this version should be sent to neil@ksu.edu, not to the regular CNS consulting channels.

Neil
