K-State's ESRI Site License Software

  • Use of the K-State ESRI Site License software is for all K-State faculty, staff, students, and administrative units. The site license allows students to use the software on university-owned computers, but does not allow them to install it on their personal computers. (Students, however, can purchase ArcView directly from ESRI at a substantial discount.)

ESRI Hardware Keys and Key Codes Information

  • New Hardware Key License codes - for 2009-2010 are NOW READY.

    The K-State ESRI Site License contract operates on a yearly basis. These new Hardware Key License codes will expire on June 7, 2010.

  • Click on "New Hardware Key License codes" in the line above. Scroll down to find your Hardware Key serial number. Right-Click on the filename and click "Save link as..." Choose the directory where you want to save the file and save as a text file.

  • *** NOTE *** Some browsers will automatic add an .htm or .html extension to the filename. Rename the filename by removing the .htm or .html extension. The filename should appear like this: 37123456_v9.efl9
  • For information about installing the new license code file, open the file named: "37-KeyCodeInformation" listed on the directory will all the key code files.

  • The Key License Code files are for Version 9 only. If you need a Version 8 code file for your Windows machine or your Hardware Key serial number is not there, please email the K-State Site License Coordinator .
  • An ESRI Hardware Key is required to run ArcGIS Desktop and ArcInfo Workstation.
  • University personnel can purchase hardware keys at the educational price (i.e., $90 for a set of three keys) for parallel ports or USB ports by contacting the ESRI Customer Service: 1-888-377-4575 -- (8am to 5pm (Pacific Time) Monday through Friday)
  • When the Hardware Key is installed on your computer you will need a Hardware Key License Code for the Hardware Key. The License Code is a computer text file containing activation code numbers for the software.
  • The Hardware Key License Code file will be obtain for you by the K-State ESRI Site License Coordinator. Each Hardware Key has a unique 8-digit serial number. Send an email message to the Coordinator requesting the License Code file. Please supply the following information:
  • Hardware Key(s) serial number(s)
  • Version of software (Pre-Version 8, Version 8, or Version 9)
  • Number of computers using the Hardware Key(s). If single computer, then one (1). If a server, then number of computers on the server.
  • Your name and department name.
  • The License Code file(s) will be sent to you by email.

ESRI's Virtual Classroom Available at K-State

ESRI's Virtual Classroom - Because of K-State's ESRI Site License, we have a "Standard Subscription" to ESRI's Virtual Classroom. This includes many FREE courses and workshops authored exclusively by ESRI. (Courses authored by academic and industry specialists outside ESRI are NOT included.)

For more information about the Virtual Classroom and/or a list of FREE courses and workshops available, go to the ESRI website: ESRI Training and Education. Click on a course name to to see a description of the course.

To enroll in a course, email K-State's ESRI Site License Coordinator with the course title(s) you wish to enroll in. You will recieve back a course code for each course and instructions for enrolling in the ESRI Virtual Classroom.
