OverviewIn the course of providing services to the Kansas State University community, Computing and Network Services (CNS) has established charges for certain services which are provided in addition to central computing support.The portion of these charges which include labor are based on a break-even concept. The portion of these charges which include materials are generally provided at cost (plus 10 percent for shipping and handling), with exception being made for software, which includes reproduction and monitoring costs. Mainframe access charges to auxiliary units is based on historical usage, on a break-even concept as a percentage of total use. The schedule of charges is audited annually, and is updated to assure the break-even concept. Service Level Agreements are negotiated between CNS and departments or agencies requiring a combination of services. These agreements are also audited and updated annually. These products and services are provided in compliance with the Board of Regents Policy on Sale of Goods and Services (PPM 3085). The rates are charged uniformly to all users. RatesThere is a one-hour minimum charge for staff time. Rate levels are as follows:$50 -- eID change $20/exam -- Test form scanning $40/hour -- For relatively routine work which any of a number of CNS employees are equipped to perform. $65/hour -- For more advanced, technically demanding work which tends to require the attention of particular, specialized employees. $90/hour -- For emergency support services; evening/weekend support services; and planning and system-design work, with their implications of long-range responsibility. Free consulting assistance is provided to K-Staters by the K-State IT Help Desk for walk-in customers and via phone, fax, and e-mail. $55/hour Pre-approved contracted services for support of non-central, K-State-affiliated customers |
