CNS Change Management Procedures

Change Planning Template

The planning template should be used for all changes (except system recovery). An HTML link to the change planning template must be placed in the DESCRIPTION field of the Remedy change ticket. The planning template is in Microsoft Word format and should be saved as a Microsoft .DOC or .RTF file in your unit's subdirectory on the CRB web site.

Note: We have an updated Change Planning Template. Use the new version. If you have questions ask a CRB member. The old template is provided as a backout option should the new template not be sutiable. Questions and comments about the new template should be sent to:

cnscrb-l@ksu.edu

System Recovery Template

The system recovery template is an abreviated form of the change planning template as the change has already taken place and the primary need is to document what was changed. The system recovery template is in a Microsoft Word format and should be saved as a Microsoft .DOC or .RTF file in your unit's subdirectory on the CRB web site.

Standard Notification Templates

Messages sent out prior to and following a change implementation must follow the templates linked below. A standardized format ensures that all the pertinent information is provided and establishes consistency in the quality of the information shared with the university community.

Message templates are provide in TXT format for easy cut and pasting into e-mail messages. Comments describing the field contents are in parentheses and should be deleted from the final e-mail.

Maintenance Notification Template

The maintenance notification template is an abreviated template intended to be utilized when maintenance is being performed on a system that is not expected to produce an outage or perceptible changes to the clients. The intent is to be able to inform clients activity is taking place so that if they are impacted they have advance notice work is taking place and contact information.

Change Review Agenda Guidelines

The Change Review Agenda Guidelines outlines the procedure, timing, and recipients for developing and releasing a CRB Agenda. The TXT template is an abreviated text form sutiable for pasting into an e-mail program.
