I was born and raised in Manhattan, graduating from Manhattan High in 1968. I married my high school sweetheart and we will celebrate our 39th anniversary this year. I have two grown children both married and four grandchildren. After high school I enlisted in the U. S. Navy serving four years as an Aviation Electronics Technician. I returned to Manhattan to attend K-State and I completed my bachelors degree in Accounting in 1977.
Graduating from Kansas State I went to work for J. C. Penney and helped open the Catalog Distribution Center in Lenexa. One year later I had the opportunity to return to Manhattan and go to work at Kansas Farm Bureau. I spent twenty five years working in the accounting department. In August 2008 I will have worked here at K-State for five years. I am currently the Fund Balance manager in the Controller.s Office.
I enjoy being outdoors. I love hunting, fishing, K-State sports, and gardening. I guess being inside all day makes me want to find something to do outside. I enjoy mowing the grass, planting flowers, and feeding the birds. My wife and I love to travel and would like to do more once we retire. One of my interests is High School Officiating. I have been officiating high school volleyball for the past 28 years which includes numerous State tournaments.
I look forward to serving as a Classified Senator for the next three years. Please give me your suggestions as well as your concerns as to how we can improve the working environment for our classified employees.
