Barb Nagel

Short Biography:

I was born in San Angelo, TX and have lived in Topeka, KS, Papillion, NE, Sprigfield, VA, Fayetteville, NC, Wichita Falls, TX, Harker Heights, TX, Omaha, NE and finally Wamego, KS. I'm a military brat having grown up in an Air Force family. I have 3 younger siblings, 2 brothers and a sister. My Mom also lives in Wamego. My Dad passed away in May 2004 and I hope that I can grow up to be like him someday. (The Eagle on top of The Columbian Theatre in Wamego is dedicated to him - Ray Morris) I graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Springfield, VA in 1975. I attended Virginia Tech for 3 years where I played women's basketball before transferring to K-State in 1978. I graduated from K-State in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education. My husband, John C. Nagel, a native of Valley Center, KS, also graduated from K-State and works as an electrician for AA Gifford Electric. We have 5 children between the two of us, Luke, Linda, Kim, Daniel and Cortney plus three grandchildren, Logan, Kiara and Linden.

Brief Work History:

I came to K-State in August of 2001 after working for the Columbian Theatre in Wamego for 6 years. I started my career working as an Administrative Officer in the Music Department for 4 3/4 years before being promoted to my current position, Public Service Administrator, in the Registrar's Office.

Personal Interests:

My favorite pastime is just hanging out with my husband, John. We are a 4-H family with our youngest, Cortney being in the Bonfire 4-H club. Our favorite family activity is raising 4-H show pigs and watching Cortney show them. My secret desire is to quit my job and mow lawns for a living. If I could get benefits, I do it in a heartbeat! I love being outside!
