I was born in Charleston, WV. My family moved several times due to my dad's Army career. In 1990 we moved to Manhattan. After I graduated from Manhattan High School my dad retired and my family moved to both the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Dallas, Texas area.
I went on to start a family and my education in Manhattan. I attended Manhattan Area Technical College in 1997-1998. I received a diploma and graduated at the top of my class in the Business and Computer Technology program. I later attended Highland Community College's Wamego campus to complete my Associate Degree in Applied Science. I received this degree in December 2003. Through K-State I've earned a Certificate in Conflict Resolution and I am currently a part-time student working toward a Bachelor's Degree in Family Studies and Human Services (Conflict Resolution emphasis). I hope continue my education by getting at least a Master's Degree in my field later on.
My extended family consists of three sisters, four brothers, two-brother-in-laws, parents, and grandparents. I am the oldest daughter. I married in 2000 and my husband and I have two wonderful sons, Shane and Logan. We live just north of Manhattan. My husband is a painter and contractor, working for Linenberger Painting, Inc in Manhattan and the surrounding areas.
After graduating from MATC, I worked for a local law firm. I also worked for a local doctor's office after a brief time in the Columbus, Ohio area as a Realtor. My K-State career started in 2002. I was hired in the University Attorney's Office part time as a Research Analyst, II. After two and a half years in the attorney's office, I was promoted to the Office of Academic Personnel as a Public Service Administrator, I. I've been in Academic Personnel for about three and a half years now for a total of six years at K-State so far. I love working at K-State!
In the little spare time that I have, I enjoy spending time with my family enjoying the outdoors and playing board games. We are also very involved in Cub and Boy Scouting and church activities. My hobbies are photography, reading, singing, and occasional scrapbooking. As a part-time hobby-job I photograph family and senior portraits. This is one of my favorite activities! My children are often my subjects when I just want to have fun.
I'd like to thank my constituents for their input and support. I'm enjoying being a Classified Senator and I'm happy to have constituents who are willing to get involved and help to make a difference. Sometimes it feels as if we live where we work, and great co-workers make all the difference!
