President's Notes

April 2007 President's Notes:

Notes from the April 4, 2007 Classified Senate Meeting
From Senate President: Richard Herrman

The House and Senate Conference Committee on the Pay Plan for State employees have come to an agreement. It is has not been voted on or been signed by the Governor yet, but we are confident it will pass. The basics of the plan are as follows;

  • A 2.0% general increase for all employees effective at the beginning of the Fiscal Year.
  • An $860.00 bonus on December 14, 2007 for all employees. (This bonus will be included for KPERS calculations)
  • Funding for an increase in the longevity bonus from $40.00 per year to $50.00 per year for all eligible employees.

The state is working on a new pay matrix or pay plan for state employees, but we know little about it at this time, or when it may be completed.

Mark your calendars; Plans are being finalized for the Classified Employee Recognition Ceremony to be held on Wednesday May 23, 2007 at 2:00 PM in the K-State Union Ballroom. We are looking forward to seeing you there.

Well it is time again for the "Changing of the Guard". I am referring to the election of officers for the Classified Senate. Nominations were accepted for the positions of President Elect, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and the At Large position. A vote was taken and the results are as follows; President Elect: Jennyfer Owensby, Vice President: Janel Harder, Treasurer: John Wolf, Secretary: Cyreathia (Sam) Reyer, and the At Large position went to Carolyn Elliott.

Congratulations to the Officers for the Senate year 2007/2008. They will assume their new positions and duties at the June 6, 2007 meeting.
