Donna Wright named College Classified Employee of the Year !

Our Accountant II, Donna Wright, has been named the College of Arts and Sciences’ Classified Employee of the Year, and she will be honored at the University’s Recognition Ceremony that will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27 in the K-State Student Union Main Ballroom.

Donna’s 35 years of service to our Department and University have been characterized by professionalism, dedication, attention to detail, and a caring and friendly attitude. Everyone with whom she’s worked over the years will agree that this recognition is well deserved.

Our department’s extramural funding is now at record levels (ca. $3.5M annually), necessitating that Donna track and manage a huge number of grants and contracts from various federal and state agencies, foundations, and corporations. Our undergraduate enrollments are also near record levels, and many of these students are appointed as Teaching Assistants or Research Assistants: Donna keeps track of them all, being certain that everyone is paid on time and on budget. Our Ph.D. program is one of the largest in the College with ca. 70 Ph.D. students, all of whom are appointed as either GTAs or GRAs (or as a mixture of both): this substantial population of researchers is supplemented by a sizable and ever-changing crop of postdoctoral Research Associates, Visiting Scholars, etc., and Donna ensures that everyone’s paperwork is up-to-date and in compliance. Donna does all this with efficiency and a great sense of humor: it is difficult to imagine how anyone can keep track of so many diverse things!

Congratulations, Donna!
